The “lovebugs” are out and making driving a whole new semiannual adventure. When driving out from Clermont to Kennedy Space Center, there is a six-mile stretch of two-lane highway through swamp and scrub and enough lovebugs to look like rain smacking into the windshield.

Fortunately the thunderstorms I had to drive through going north from KSC to Daytona during the afternoon cleaned off most of them. The rest were the task of the psychedelic car wash at Buc-ee’s.
